The Cool Room – Fremantle
We always enjoy our trips to West Australia when we are visiting our customers in Perth and Fremantle and taking part in tastings of our imported wines with them.
This year we were in town to take part in a lunch which was organised by a suburban restaurant quite close to Fremantle which designed the meal to match to our wines which the restaurant has, for many years, bought and promoted.
We had booked an Air B&B venue close to the restaurant and on the day of the event we decided to have breakfast at a nearby restaurant called The Cool Room because it is now the province of Drew Dawson and Charlotte Beeton. We are familiar with Drew’s cooking skills as last year he was the chef at the restaurant where the tasting was to occur and was the chef for a similar lunch last year.
Anyway we dropped in to The Cool Room fairly early on the Sunday morning and there was already a good crowd enjoying their breakfast. There is both inside and outside seating available and the outside seating was bathed in sunshine when we arrived. Many of the tables has well-behaved canines with them. We chose to sit inside, however, to more closely watch the kitchen in action.
As we walked into The Cool Room we noticed some of the features of the room such as a painting on one wall and

On another wall there was a blackboard with the day’s dishes prominently displayed. Notice that each of the suppliers are mentioned as well as the seasonal fruits that are available. You will also note the quality of the reading material displayed under the menu board.

For our breakfast we ordered an eggs and cheese plate and an omelette with mushrooms which looked particularly delicious when we saw one arriving at one of the other tables.
You can see a picture of our eggs and cheese plate immediately below. There is a soft boiled egg (from Little Farm and particularly delicious), some excellent bread from the local Hunter Bread, and three slices of very good cheese plus some tasty poached fruits (plums?).

You can see a photo of our omelette below. The omelette had been cooked perfectly – soft on the inside and firm mon the outside with very tasty mushrooms covering the omelette.

Needless to say, the food was exceptional and provided exactly what we wanted! We also enjoyed our coffees (both espresso and cold brew) which were also excellent. With our coffee we also enjoyed a beautiful carrot cake!
Everything about this place was just what we like – excellent food, excellent service but not too formal.
We strongly recommend a visit, even if you are staying in Perth catch an Uber out here for breakfast or lunch it will be worth your while!
