Elementary Coffee – Introduction

When we visit the lovely city of Adelaide we obviously scope out our coffee options and Elementary Coffee is usually our place of choice due to the focus on single origin beans from reputable suppliers that we always find there.

It is centrally located in Young St which runs off Franklin St just north of the famous market. One thing to note is that it only opens on week days so we need to adjust our expectations if we arrive on a weekend.

It opens at about the time we are ready for a caffeine hit, namely 7:30am. The venue is very popular due to the number of office buildings within a short walk of here so you may find it hard to get one of the tables that line one side of the deep space.

One of the things we like about Elementary Coffee is that the breakfast offerings are simple but tasty, whether it is a savoury croissant or a granola dish with fruit and yoghurt the dishes are tasty and perfect to start the day.

We also like their choice of coffee beans. On our recent visit we thoroughly enjoyed a naturally processed coffee made with beans from Gil & Edu Melo who farm their coffee shrubs at an elevation of 1200 metres above sea level in the Cerrado Mineiro region of Brazil which lies approximately 600 kilometres north of Sao Paulo. We had an espresso to replenish our caffeine levels then a batch brew to savour the coffee, allowing it to cool to the best temperature for fully appreciating the nuances of the flavours.

For breakfast each morning on our most recent visit to Adelaide we enjoyed the Elementary offerings, especially the granola plate which you can see in the photo below.
