LeRoi Brighton – Beautiful wines

LeRoi Brighton – Wonderful wine selection by Pierre Stock

LeRoi Brighton is a very new retail wine store and bar in the heart of Bay Street, Brighton, Victoria.

The venue has been fitted out by the owner, namely our friend Pierre Stock and also stocked by him from the wines he and his company (PS Wine Selections) have been accumulating over the years that he has been importing wines from France and beyond and also buying wines from other importers of French wine such as our Living Wines importation business.

We should add that he also stocks some excellent Australian wines. Some of the imported and local wines are natural so we will no doubt spend time here having a glass or two or choosing a bottle to take to a BYO restaurant.

When we first arrived at LeRoi recently we were greeted by Pierre who we have known for many years since he and we have both been importing wines.

We had also got to know him well during his tenure at South Yarra iconic restaurant France Soir where he looked after the extensive wine selection there.

When you arrive at this delightful space you see the name next to the door on the window and once inside the wines and food items displayed on the shelves and in the regfrigerators around the walls.

When you start to examine the wines displayed here you will see many favourites if you drink European wines.

We quickly noticed some of the wines that Pierre had bought from us over the years and put away specifically for the opening of this venue.

We saw some bottles of that popular wines from the Mosse family whose vineyards are positioned in their vineyards south of the city of Angers in the Loire Valley.

We saw three Mosse wines with their attractive labels namely the Mosse Bisou, the La Pirie and the Cabernet Franc.

We also noticed the very reasonable pricing of the wines that were displayed at LeRoi, including the Mosse wines.

Further along we also spied some of one of our Burgundy producers, namely Fanny Sabre as well as anothe rof our Loire producers namely Jean-Pierre Robinot who makes wonderful wines from one of our favourite red grapes namely Pineau d’Aunis and white wines from a beloved white grapes of this region, namely Chenin Blanc.

While we were examining the shelves Pierre poured us a glass of one of the wines he had open and served us a delightful cream biscuit to accompany the wine.

Each day they choose some wines to serve by the glass which are priced very reasonably. Below you can see a photo we took of the menu for the day.

You will notice from this menu that if you don’t want to wander along the shelves checking out the selection on display you can ask to peruse the extensive wine list they maintain on their Ipad.

We know that LeRoi will be a great place for Brighton locals or those driving through to drop in for a glass of reasonably priced wine or for a bottle to take home guided by the knowledgable staff.

Others will want to have a chat to Pierre to tap in to his breadth and depth of experience in the wine industry in general and his importing knowledge in particular.

We wish him every success in his new venture at LeRoi and we shall return for another glass of wine soon!

You can find out more about Pierre and his activities on his Web site here.

We have also included this venue in our story on the best places to eat and drink in Melbourne here.
