Pierre Hermé

We were strolling on the Left Bank in Paris a few years ago when we noticed a very small, very elegant shop on the opposite side of the street. When we approached we realised we were in a very special place.

Everything was perfect! The shop design was ultra-contemporary. The fit-out was perfect. And the patisserie was stunning!

We had found Pierre Hermé!

We subsequently found that he is a national institution. He was born in Alsace (a region that spawns so many prodigies), became an apprentice at the famous Lenôtre when he was just fourteen years old and then moved on to revered Fauchon at the delicate age of twenty four.

His macaroons are legendary!
