Sunny’s Kiosk – Perfect location

Sunny’s Kiosk – Introduction

It is just a short drive to the edge of Merimbula and to what the locals call the “Top Lake” where you find a local treasure called Sunny’s Kiosk sitting right on the water creating the perfect atmosphere for liesurely breakfast, long lunches and lazy dinners.

This lovely venue is run by Tess Podger and Matty Johnston which you reach after a few twists and turns away from the CBD. You will see the following sign at the top of the hill when you are getting close.

Once you see this sign it is only a short run down the hill to the kiosk and the car park which has plenty of room for prospective diners. We should add that they don’t take bookings, so at peak times you might have to wait for a table for a little while.

We find that the atmosphere here is perfect for relaxing. whether you are sitting on the outside balcony or at any of the inside tables you will have a relaxing view over the water as you can see from the photo below.

On our first visit we ordered the house baked muesli which was a beautiful dish of very tasty combination of fruits and muesli as you can see below.

We were also lucky enough to hit on a morning when they had just received some very fresh blue fin tuna which was displayed on the chalk board to entice diners.

This was certainly tempting and we are certainly weak when it comes to resisting temptation – we just can’t see the point!

It was a very tasty dish as well as you can see below with the furakake, miso and sesame enhancing the base ingredients.

We returned to Sunny’s for breakfast the next day and for lunch as well – very relaxing and very enjoyable.

You can read more about this venue on their Web site here.

We have also written a short overview of Merimbula here.
