For a quick lunch or a cheap evening meal this is a great place to visit. Keep walking past the Peak building and on up Quay St until you see a small cluster of popular food places in the basement of the Prince Building. In the window you will see an array of plated food. There might be some prawns, a plate of shimmering pigs ears (one of our favourites), plates of superbly steamed asparagus and a lovely combination of chilli dried fish. You might have to wait a while for a table but it is worth it. Once seated you can order your soup or dumplings (we recommend the pork and cabbage variety) and then choose a variety of the $2 plates which you carry to your table. Then sit back and enjoy! At the end of the meal you will be asked how many small dishes you had and they will be added to your bill. The cuisine here is obviously influenced by the north of China but there are modern interpretations and they also apply Chinese techniques to Australian ingredients. All in all a thoroughly satisfying place to eat.
